Standard Life Investments Pooled Property Fund and Opus Developments have secured planning permission to develop a Waitrose-anchored development in Solihull.
The pair have won consent for a 28,500 sq ft supermarket and a 198-capacity car park at St Catherine’s Court.
Waitrose will be situated opposite the town’s flagship John Lewis store. Opus Land has been appointed as development manager for the project.
The development site includes an existing office building and surrounding land as well as a further half acre of land purchased from Pipus Developments.
Standard Life Investments and Opus Land are expected to start developing the site in late autumn, with completion in late 2015.
Richard Smith, managing director of Opus Land said: “The deal was a challenging one, bringing together two land ownerships, the surrender of various existing leases in both St Catherine’s Court and 29 Homer Road and a successful planning permission for a Waitrose store.”
