Patisserie Holdings seeks Brum sweet spot

Patisserie Holdings is poised to launch a search for a new headquarters building in Birmingham.

The move is part of its plans to more than double the café chain’s 85 Patisserie Valerie, Druckers and Baker Spice-branded outlets within the next five years.

Patisserie Holdings chief executive Paul May confirmed that the company expects to outgrow its existing HQ in the Birmingham suburb of Hall Green.

He said: “We are putting a plan together now. We need up to 10,000 sq ft for office space, with a production facility of between 60,000 and 100,000 sq ft.”

Patisserie Valerie will open for the first time in Birmingham at the former Hudson’s café at 122 Colmore Row. The space is set to go under offer imminently and the shop to open in May.

The firm is also in talks with Birmingham council and Network Rail to take space in the redeveloped 200,000 sq ft Pallasades shopping centre in Birmingham, part of the New Street station revamp that is due to open in 2014.

Patisserie Valerie is to make its Scottish debut next month in Edinburgh, opening one store on Rose Street and another in Northbridge.

GVA is advising the firm in Birmingham; Culverwell & Co is advising Patisserie Holdings in Scotland.
