Patrizia pushes to wind up Sanjeev Gupta’s firm over unpaid rent

Sanjeev Gupta’s office landlord is pushing to wind up his commodities trading firm.

A subsidiary of German property group Patrizia is pursuing Liberty Commodities for £8.9m through London’s High Court, claiming the company “never paid a penny” towards a lease it took out on an office at 40 Grosvenor Place, SW1, in October 2019.

US investment firm White Oak is also putting a claim to the courts, saying it has not been paid $161.6m owed under a receivables financing facility at Liberty Commodities when it came due in 2021.

The group now says it is owed more than $190m including interest and charges.
