A Local Data Company survey shows how the number of pawnbrokers has rocketed while bank branches have fallen.
The number of pawnbrokers climbed 44% between 2008 and 2010 in a sample of 720 towns. The number of bank branches fell 1% in the same towns. The National Pawnbrokers Association’s members have more than 1,300 outlets.
