Peabody has launched a search for a developer to help bring forward up to £300m in development around Abbey Wood in South Thamesmead, SE2.
The housing association has appointed Montagu Evans to procure a 50:50 joint venture partner to bring forward 727 homes in phases two and three of the regeneration.
Bids are invited by 20 December, with a preferred partner to be selected in Q3 2022.
Peabody is nearing practical completion on 130 homes, with a further 500 to complete next year, in the first phase of development.
Phase two has outline planning for 329 homes and 11,300 sq ft of commercial space on a 4.6-acre site, with detailed plans to be submitted to the London Borough of Bexley in spring 2022.
Phase three will see 398 homes on a 3.1-acre site, with planning consent to be determined next January. A further 1,550 homes will be developed in phases four to seven.
Matthew Foulis, Peabody project director for regeneration in Thamesmead, said: “Phases two and three are already cleared sites and provide an opportunity to help deliver high-quality new homes and commercial spaces close to the Elizabeth Line. The area is already becoming a place where people of all ages want to live, work and spend time.”
Oliver Maury, partner at Montagu Evans, added that the schemes will be a “crucial step” for the regeneration. Maury said: “Moving from one to the other will require a commitment to the local community and an understanding of the wider vision as well as expertise in placemaking, design and delivery.”
