Peachtree Services has received the go-ahead from Southwark Council’s Planning Committee for the £200m redevelopment of Burgess Business Park in Camberwell, SE5.
The scheme will revitalise the site to create a mixed-used development with 375-homes, 35% of which will be affordable.
Around 32,000 sq ft of high-quality public space will be delivered, with new pedestrian and cycle routes to encourage and support sustainable transport and planting.
Camberwell Union will also support local businesses, providing more than 54,000 sq ft of flexible and modern commercial floorspace, of which 20% will be affordable.
The Camberwell Social Union strategy will ensure the local community benefits directly, including through the generation of 155 new jobs, the provision of affordable workspace, and significant financial contributions to be spent in the local area.
The scheme is aimed to help support the area as an exciting creative hub for local businesses, artists, and makers. It will be fossil-fuel-free and car-free, except for 14 parking spaces reserved for blue badge holders, all of which will include electric vehicle charging points.
Nick Groves, managing director of Peachtree Services, said: “This has been six years in the making, but all this hard work has resulted in a scheme which we are proud of. We believe our proposals offer the best mix of benefits for the local community including much-needed new housing for the London Borough of Southwark and modern space for local businesses. We look forward to getting started on delivering these as soon as possible.”
