Peel submits 5m sq ft MediaCityUK plans

MediaCityUK final phase 570p

The Peel Group has submitted plans for 5m sq ft of development which will form the remainder of its MediaCityUK campus in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester.

The plans, which will be delivered in four phases over a 20-year period, comprise 2.3m sq ft of offices, 1m sq ft of homes, a 280,000 sq ft hotel, 86,000 sq ft of shops, 27,000 sq ft of leisure and 1.2m sq ft of car parking.

The site at the heart of the application lies immediately to the east of the existing MediaCityUK complex and is bound by South Langworthy Road, Broadway and The Quays, covering 25 acres.

The first phase of MediaCityUk is home to tenants including the BBC, ITV and the University of Salford.

Salford council is expected to make a decision on the plans in March.

Stephen Wild, managing director of MediaCityUK, said: “We see the new development playing a pivotal role in supporting what Peel has already built in the initial phases, as well as furthering the city council’s aspiration of creating a new town centre at Salford Quays.”
