Peel Group subsidiary Peel Land and Property has submitted a planning application for an 87,000 sq ft Tesco supermarket at The Peel Centre in Washington, Tyne & Wear.
The scheme would also include a petrol filling station, café and 560 parking spaces.
Roger Wheeldon, senior development surveyor at Peel Land and Property, said: “The new food superstore if granted planning permission give an excellent boost to the area and provide a much greater choice for shoppers, as well as providing much needed jobs in the area”.
