Lepore leaves Henderson for UBS

UBS Global Asset Management’s global real estate business starts its domestic operations in Italy under UBS Global Asset Management SGR and has appointed Gaetano Lepore, who will be responsible for property acquisition and disposition, asset management as well as the development of new real estate investment products in the Italian market. He joins from Henderson Global Investors, where he assisted in a number of property acquisitions in the Italian market and was the manager of the company’s first Italian real estate fund. Prior to this, Lepore worked for Deka Immobilien Investment as senior investment manager.

Doughty Hanson appoints Black

Doughty Hanson & Co has appointed Adam Black to address sustainability matters within the firm. Black will also be responsible for advising portfolio companies on environmental, social and governance issues to enhance the value of those investments and assist the investment team with due diligence on new investments. He joins from KPMG where he was an associate director in the risk and sustainability team, with responsibility for leading and expanding the environmental, health and safety advisory and due diligence businesses as well as aspects of the climate change business.

BPF names new finance director

The British Property Federation has appointed a new director for finance and investment. Peter Cosmetatos, a tax lawyer in the real estate group at Wragge & Co, will replace Gareth Lewis, who leaves at the end of May. Prior to joining Wragge & Co in 2007, Cosmetatos worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for 10 years.

Ilardo joins BNL Fondi Immobiliari

Ivano Ilardo has been appointed general manager of BNL Fondi Immobiliari.

He joins from Generali Property Investments SGR where he was funds director. He was previously fund manager at BNL Fondi Immobiliari. Ilardo graduated with a degree in business administration from Bocconi University in Milan and has been working in real estate finance since 1995.

ING appoints three executives

ING Real Estate has made three senior appointments within its investment management business in central and eastern Europe. Based in Prague, Menno Verhoeff has been appointed as acquisitions director for central and eastern Europe. He will head a team of acquisitions managers working in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Jiri Lhotak has been appointed as chief operations officer. He will retain his responsibilities as chief financial officer and will oversee the financial and operational management of the company for the central and eastern Europe region. Jan Kubicek has been appointed as fund manager of the Property Fund Central Europe, while keeping his asset and portfolio management responsibilities for ING Real Estate’s funds in the region.

Chamieh and Green join JER Partners

JER Partners has recruited Mark Chamieh and James Green as managing directors.

They will share responsibility for raising capital and building and managing capital-raising teams for JER Partners’ private equity funds globally. Chamieh is to join the company in May and Green has been with JER Partners since March. They will report to Michael Pralle, JER Partners’ president and chief operating officer. Chamieh joins JER Partners from UBS Global Asset Management in London, where he served most recently as the company’s managing director, head of global business development and was a member of the global real estate management committee. Green joins from Citigroup Property Investors, where he was global head of marketing and client relations.

Fortescue joins Europa Capital

James Fortescue has joined Europa Capital as senior associate focusing on new investments in the UK, the Benelux countries and the Nordic region. He joins from CB Richard Ellis where has worked since 2002 in global corporate services, specialising in real estate strategy for a range of corporate businesses. In 2003, he moved to the West End of London team and worked predominantly on German inward investment into the UK. Prior to joining Europa Capital, he specialised for two years in advising on major European cross-border investment sales and acquisitions.

D’Analeze joins GVA Grimley

GVA Grimley has appointed Paul D’Analeze as a director of its capital markets group based in the Glasgow office. He will focus on European retail investment. For the past eight years, D’Analeze has been based in Milan, where he had been head of retail investment for Savills since 2005. Prior to working at Savills, he worked for Value Retail with a pan-European brief.
