CBREconfirms Italian exodus
CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) has confirmed a recent spate of resignations from its Italian operation. The resignations came from managing director Roberto Trella and agency chief Lionello Rosina, along with directors Massimo Bestazzo, Susan Trevor-Briscoe of corporate services in Milan and Luca di Nisio in the Rome agency department. Neither company would confirm reports that the five are joining FPDSavills. Angelo Castelnuovo, head of valuation at CBRE Italy, Laura Mauri, also in valuation, and other unnamed valuation staff have taken back their resignations after “various concerns were addressed”. Ewen Hill has now been appointed day-to-day acting manager and future managing director of CBRE Italy. Hill was previously CBRE’s central European co-ordinator and managing director of investment properties. Jim Reid, chairman of CBRE’s Europe, Middle East and Africa division, said: “We feel our other Italian businesses have underperformed their market potential and it is time for new leadership. Ewen Hill is perfect for the job and we have an able, committed team.”
Reid joins AAM board
Iain Reid, chief executive of Aberdeen Property Investors (API), has been appointed to the board of parent company Aberdeen Asset Management (AAM). Reid was chief executive of BZW Property Investment Management when it was bought by AAM in October 2000 and rebranded as API. He has since led the acquisition and integration of Celexa and RREEF (UK) into API.
Changing of the guards at Difa
Dr Frank Billand and Ingo Hartlief will take up new positions as members of the board at German open-ended fund Difa at the start of next year. They will take over from Jurgen Ehrlich and Dr Dieter Brunner, who plan to retire on 31 March 2003. Billand is on the managing board of Hochtief Development. In his new position he will be responsible for portfolio and project management. Hartlief, who heads Viterra Gewerbeimmobilien, will take responsibility for property management at Difa.
Asticus makes London changes
Jorgen Svedin has been appointed chairman of Asticus (UK), part of German property company IVG Immobilien. He will also head IVG’s project development business in Europe. David Gibson has been appointed managing director of Asticus (UK), where he was previously project director.
New Berlin director for FPDSavills
Ingo Spangenberg has been appointed director of FPDSavills’ German industrial team. Spangenberg, who will be based in Berlin, has 12 years’ experience in the industrial, warehouse and office sector, including 10 years at Jones Lang LaSalle. He has also worked for the Bank of Berlin, where he established the leasing department. In his new role Spangenberg will be responsible for expanding FPDSavills’ blue-chip client base and developing the company’s range of services.
Williams takes Prague post
Gareth Williams is moving to King Sturge’s Prague office from his role as development partner in Cardiff. Williams will take over Paul Betts’ previous position as managing director in Prague. Betts recently moved to King Sturge’s Paris office, where he is responsible for
cross-border investment business throughout Europe. Williams said: “Prague is now an established market, particularly the office sector. By expanding our existing client base we hope to capitalise on opportunities across all sectors of the market.”
Henderson appoints portfolio assistant
Henderson Global Investors has appointed Ainslie McLennan as assistant portfolio manager. McLennan was previously a senior investment surveyor at Ryden in Edinburgh. She will work alongside David King, director of portfolio management Europe, on the funds Henderson manages under its strategic alliance with the United Bank of Kuwait.
Taxman joins BDO
BDO Stoy Hayward has appointed Stephen Herring as a tax partner to boost its tax capabilities in the real estate, construction and hospitality sectors. Herring was previously lead tax partner with Ernst & Young’s real estate group and has experience of advising cross-border real estate funds on acquisitions in the UK and continental Europe. Herring said: “I am looking forward to utilising my knowledge and experience to contribute to the growth of BDO Stoy Hayward’s respected property sector client base.”
Berg to asset manage for Aareal
Bernhard Berg has joined Aareal Bank to head its property asset management business unit, which was set up in 1999. Berg was previously head of property at R&V Insurance, where he was responsible for property investment and management throughout the R&V group. He is also deputy chairman of the advisory board of Deutsche Immobilien Datenbank, a specialist provider of property database services.
Roberts joins JLL corporate solutions
Marc Roberts has been appointed national director within Jones Lang LaSalle’s corporate solutions team. Roberts previously worked on special projects at Morgan Stanley. Prior to this, he was responsible for the Europe, Middle East and Africa property portfolio at Accenture. Robert Bonwell, European director at Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “Marc’s appointment reflects our desire to provide specialist programme management skills to help us expand our European corporate solutions business.”
Wintle leaves JLL Paris
Giles Wintle has left Jones Lang LaSalle’s Paris office after six years with the firm. Wintle spent three years in London and three years in Paris and he worked within the Capital Markets Group. He is leaving to start a 16 month MBA course at Hautes Etudes Commerciales near Paris.
