Hire of the week: Doug Garden
Commercial property consultancy Ryden has appointed Doug Garden as a partner and head of project and building consultancy in Aberdeen.
The highly regarded building surveyor replaces Ken Macpherson, who leaves the firm after 16 years.
Garden joins from Knight Frank where he headed the building consultancy department for the past 12 years. Prior to that he worked as a director at Chesterton where he provided building consultancy services and assisted the co-directors with the transfer of the Chesterton business in Aberdeen to Knight Frank in 2004.

Commercial property consultancy Ryden has appointed Doug Garden as a partner and head of project and building consultancy in Aberdeen.
The highly regarded building surveyor replaces Ken Macpherson, who leaves the firm after 16 years.
Garden joins from Knight Frank where he headed the building consultancy department for the past 12 years. Prior to that he worked as a director at Chesterton where he provided building consultancy services and assisted the co-directors with the transfer of the Chesterton business in Aberdeen to Knight Frank in 2004.
Garden’s record of accomplishment include the design and project management of new-build commercial properties in Aberdeen, and he is currently leading a team monitoring the £50m Peterhead Port Authority inner harbour redevelopment project.
Garden has also advised on a number of significant dilapidations claims in Aberdeen city and has built up an enviable level of experience in this field.

GVA business development manager Gemma Wilkinson has been appointed chair of the British Council for Offices’ NextGen Committee in the Midlands.
Natalie Gentry has joined MRPP as an associate director, focusing on residential and mixed-use developments. She was previously a senior strategic planner at GLA.
AS Retail has appointed Rob Jones as director. He joins from CBRE’s shopping centre leasing team where his clients included Legal & General, Schroders, Land Securities and Hermes.
Watts Group has appointed Guy Pritchard-Davies as a commercial director. He is experienced in design, contracting and building consultancy in the built environment.
Bartłomiej Łepkowski has joined Savills Poland as head of property and asset management. He joins from Knight Frank.
Richborough Estates has appointed Russell Crow and Harry Jackson as planning director and land study manager respectively and Hannah Watson has been promoted to land and planning manager.
Alistair Bews has been appointed director for JLL’s central London retail team. He joins from CBRE where he was a director in the lease advisory team for 11 years.
JF Finnegan has appointed Andrew Arbon-Davis as senior estimator, James Stobbs as senior quantity surveyor, Bradley Thompson as assistant quantity surveyor and Richard Hudson as general foreman.
The Aberdeen office of Savills has appointed Claire Robison as an associate. She joins from Ryden and will focus on the valuation of commercial, industrial and retail property as well as development land.
Architecture practice HOK has appointed Chris Fannin as head of the London planning team from its Hong Kong office. Lee Daniels has joined as regional lead of consulting in EMEA and David Weatherhead as senior project director in the London office.
Simon Perlmutter has joined Harris Associates as a partner. He joins from Hoffman Partners and will focus on commercial investment with a specific focus on central London.
Wrenbridge has promoted James Feltham to associate director. He joined the firm in 2015 and was instrumental in the Grafton Shopping Centre project in Cambridge.
Real estate debt investment management business Laxfield Group has recruited Niall Brown as transaction associate director. He previously worked in the institutional team of the commercial real estate lending division at Lloyds Bank.
Lee Tredwell has joined Savills Investment Management as head of investment. He will be responsible for expanding Savills Investment Management in Australia.
