Avison Young has appointed Matthew Burnett (pictured left) as senior building surveyor. He joins from Colliers International and will work alongside Martin Rymer in the building consultancy team in the West End office.
Kate Thomson (pictured second from left) has joined Cording Real Estate Group as head of UK residential delivery in its private rented sector. She previously worked for Clarion Housing Group, where she led development teams and worked with internal and external stakeholders such as local authorities and the Homes and Communities Agency.
Avant Homes has promoted Chris Coley (pictured second from right) to the new role of group developments director to lead the implementation of initiatives in the control environment.
Louisa McAleenan (pictured right) has joined Picton as research analyst. She will be responsible for all aspects of Picton’s investment and property research, contributing to the investment strategy as the company transitions on the 1 October to become a UK REIT.
Acorn Property Group has promoted Andrew Strathdee to development director at its Newquay office. Dave Gittins has become regional construction director at Bristol.
Hargreaves Newberry Gyngell has appointed Alex Walker to assist in the property management department. He previously worked for Chapman Petrie.
JOHNS&CO has recruited Julian Pickles as its first finance director. Pickles was previously head of finance at Hamptons International.
Holder Mathias Architects has promoted director Chris Hall to partner. Hall has been with the practice for 15 years and has worked for clients including Crest Nicholson, British Land and Forest Holidays.
Silverstone Building Consultancy has appointed graduate building surveyor Joe Young.
Trimont Real Estate Advisors has appointed Bill Sexton to the new position of senior managing director, EMEA. Sexton was co-founder of London-based Mount Street Loan Solutions.
Will Stone has joined AS Retail to work on the acquisition programmes of occupational clients, including CycleBar and Cards Direct.
Aitchison Raffety has appointed Emily Halpin as a senior surveyor in its valuation division. Based at Stokenchurch, Halpin will undertake healthcare and education projects in the UK.
Greystar has hired Will Atkinson as a senior director of investments from British Land. Atkinson’s role will be to seek development opportunities and site acquisitions in London and key regional cities.
Aston Rose has hired graduate Tom Cole to its investment team.
Arlington Advisors has appointed Neil Buchanan as general counsel and company secretary for all Arlington entities. Buchanan will manage the company’s compliance requirements and support its purpose-built student accommodation acquisitions programme.
Davis Coffer Lyons has recruited Cesca Hawes as senior surveyor to its development and London estates team from Harper Dennis Hobbs.
Fleurets has appointed Richard Thomas as divisional director in its agency team. Based in London, he will be involved in all aspects of the agency sector, including both individual and group freehold and leasehold sales as well as new letting assignments.
Andy Lowe has joined Forge Property Consultants as a graduate surveyor. He will work across the firm’s north Shropshire and Staffordshire offices alongside director Charles Lawson and surveyor Tom Mason.

Polly Plunket-Checkemian will join M J Mapp as head of the central London office team in October. She has previously worked at Cushman & Wakefield and more recently as head of strategy at Broadgate Estates, where she worked on some of London’s newest mixed-use estates.
Deepak Gupta has joined law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore as a commercial property partner from Moon Beever solicitors.
