James Holmes (pictured, right centre) has been appointed head of planning at Aitchison Raffety. He joined the firm in 2007 and has 25 years’ experience in public and private sector planning. Silverstone Building Consultancy has appointed Gavin Walker (pictured, left centre) as a chartered building surveyor in its Newcastle office and James Ward has joined the Leeds office as a graduate building surveyor. Galliard Homes has appointed George Baffoe-Djan (pictured, left) as head of strategic partnerships to lead its growing portfolio in the South West of England. Partners Helen Andrews and Sarah Wilson have joined law firm Bevan Brittan’s construction team. HPD Lendscape has hired Xavier Lang-Claes as a consultant. Montagu Evans has appointed David Jones as finance director. He joins from Colliers and succeeds Donald Smith who is retiring from the partnership. Nexus Planning has appointed Matt Dugdale as associate director in its Manchester office to develop the firm’s offering in the residential sector. Cain International has appointed Ellen Brunsberg and Kirsty Peacock as chief investment officer and chief people officer, respectively. CBRE has appointed Mike Pochin as associate director of investment properties for its Manchester team. The UK logistics capital markets team has recruited Paul Steadman as a director from Gerald Eve and Charlotte Dawidek as a senior surveyor from JLL. Andy Williams, founding partner of Powell Williams, is to retire after 31 years. Over the past three decades he has grown the family business founded in 1990 into a limited liability partnership. CALA Homes Midlands has recruited Caroline Owen as senior planning manager to support growth plans across Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Solihull. Carl Howarth has joined Dacres Commercial as a director. Based at the firm’s Leeds and Ilkley offices, he will lead a team providing strategic property and facilities management. Real estate capital adviser LEXI Finance has appointed Robert Sadler as senior associate. He joins from CBRE. Cushman & Wakefield has strengthened its project management team in Scotland with the appointment of Natasha Kravchuk as associate director and Neil Johnston as project manager. Alex Perratt has joined B8 Real Estate as a surveyor to handle the letting of industrial and distribution property in Merseyside and the surrounding area. Swan Housing Association has appointed Pat Billingham as chair of the board. Savills’ super-prime London residential development sales team has appointed Adam Simmonds as director and Becca Howard as a consultant. Global Mutual has hired Alexandra Petit as head of research and insights to enhance its investment and operational research activities. Haslams Surveyors has hired Josh Grimes and Emily Hill as graduate surveyors. Tilia Homes Western has strengthened its land and planning team with the appointment of Simon Gitsham as senior land manager. Property investor Fabrix has bolstered its team with the appointment of Megan Sodzawiczny and Bronwyn Jones as development managers, and Francisca Hamilton as a development assistant. Avant Homes has promoted senior land manager Lorna Rider to land director for its central region. She will be responsible for overseeing land acquisitions and new opportunities. Investec has appointed Jane Niles as head of real estate offshore in the Channel Islands. MDA Consulting has promoted Steve Hurworth and Cameron Van Heerden to associate directors in the London office and Robert Brennan to associate director in the Bristol office. Obituary Vivian Linacre, a commercial property developer in England and Scotland for 50 years, has died at the age of 93. From Healey & Baker, he joined Murrayfield and City Wall, and set up on his own in the 1970s.
