People and companies: Savills makes senior hire in London urban design studio

Vinita Dhume (pictured, right) has been appointed director of Savills’ urban design studio. With more than 18 years of experience in architecture and masterplanning, she will lead the London team. Dhume joins from Levitt Bernstein Architects. David Duke has joined JLL MENA as head of international residential for Saudi Arabia. He specialises in residential investment and development, and established UK property platform Duke Associates. Tom Bayne-Jardine has been appointed as head of work dynamics for the UK and Ireland at JLL, where he will serve on the UK executive board and play a key role in the UK strategy. Bayne-Jardine formerly led the integration of JLL’s integral business. Roberto Varandas has been appointed as head of business development at Europa Capital, where he will be responsible for its fundraising capabilities and strengthening its EMEA relationships in the region. CBRE Investment Management has appointed Steven Storrs as head of portfolio management within indirect private real estate strategies. Located in London, Storrs is responsible for setting top-down strategies for key mandates and investments. Carole O’Neil has been appointed as global managing partner at engineering consultancy Cundall. With more than 15 years of experience with the firm, she will lead Cundall in embracing a new strategy and overseeing the practice’s development as it focuses on people and culture. HFD Group has appointed commercial director Paul Evans and operations director Andy Day to lead its construction business. They take over from David Shearer, who retired from HFD Construction in April after 16 years of service. Redrow Homes has promoted Guy Vernon to head of land and Jonathon Broadey to land negotiator, while Hannah Rodger and Freya Macdonald have been appointed as planning manager and land manager respectively. Lee Baron has promoted Sheena Kotecha to the position of HR director and Rafael Jacobs to the role of director in its portfolios division. Leaders Romans Group has appointed Andy Jones as group director for corporate lettings and build-to-rent, and Rob Poole as director of block management. Victoria Lowe has joined the real estate and construction team at Kingsley Napley as a partner. She previously worked at Memery Crystal. Fiera Real Estate has appointed Charles Allen to the position of head of UK. He will oversee the management of the UK region and its business strategy. Allen joined the firm in 2013 and is currently head of transactions. Andrew Charnley has joined finance company Assetz Capital as managing director, responsible for leading the business’s expansion in the housing market. Charnley has 28 years of experience working in commercial lending. Legal & General Capital has appointed Vanisha Thakrar as head of investment for housing to grow its housing platform across a diverse investment portfolio that includes build-to-rent, build-to-sell, affordable housing, senior living and modular homes. Edgerley Simpson Howe has promoted Chris Fenton to partner and Henry Phipps to associate partner within its agency department, where they advise landlords, developers and occupiers within the retail park, foodstore, leisure and roadside markets. Savills Central London Investment has appointed Richard Garside as head of the division. With more than 25 years of experience in the London market, Garside joins from CBRE, where he was an executive director in the London capital markets team. Ben Chislett has been promoted to managing director of retail at LCP. He joined the company in January from Savills. Lincoln Property Company has appointed Alex Aitchison as managing director for its operations in the UK. He will be responsible for identifying new investment and development opportunities, as well as managing the firm’s existing portfolio.
