Andy Bond, the one-time chief executive of Asda, on Wednesday opened his first Pep & Co. store in the UK – in Kettering, Northamptonshire – and said the brand could build to a chain of 1,000 stores.
The discount clothing company plans to open 49 stores within two months, and will focus on traditionally sized stores in small- and medium-sized towns.
The venture is backed by South Africa’s Pepkor and Adrian Mountford, and the group is also looking for other investment options within the discount sector.
