Persimmon, the housebuilder at the centre of a management pay row, has belatedly disclosed that its chief executive Jeff Fairburn is paid 3,000 times more than its lowest paid worker.
The huge pay differential was disclosed after MPs on the business select committee rebuked Marion Sears, chairwoman of the Persimmon remuneration committee, last month for not having the number at her fingertips.
Persimmon has written to the MPs to say the multiple was 3,195. The ratio to average pay in the company was 1,320.
