Persimmon buys former East Anglian hospital for housing scheme

Persimmon Homes Anglia has bought the 16.5-acre (6.65ha) former Norfolk and Norwich hospital in Norwich from the National Health Service.

Persimmon plans to develop a £50m housing scheme, Fellowes’ Plain, at the site, comprising 510 flats and houses.

The scheme will include 100 flats built within the refurbished hospital, 198 new-build houses and apartments and 50 affordable homes.

The company also plans to develop a high-rise block of 161 flats.

It is understood that Persimmon Homes Anglia has sold part of the site – the refurbishment of the former hospital and the high- rise block – to upmarket developer Charles Church, which is part of the Persimmon group.

Construction is due to start in May.

Persimmon hopes to start selling the flats in the autumn.
