Persimmon is preferred developer on Telford village

English Partnerships and Bournville Village Trust have appointed Persimmon Homes as the preferred developer on the 40-home first phase of Lightmoor Village, an 800-home scheme in Telford, Shropshire.

Lightmoor is planned for a 178-acre site owned by English Partnerships. Outline consent was granted last October.

Of the 40 homes, 30 will be for private sale and 10 of them will be owned and managed by the Bournville Village Trust.

George Cadbury founded the Trust in the 19th century with the initial aim of providing good-quality housing for people in Birmingham. The trust’s past projects include Birmingham’s Bournville Village, and it already manages around 500 homes in Shropshire.

English Partnerships says that Lightmoor “will be developed in the spirit of Birmingham’s Bournville Village.”

Work is expected to start on site by the end of the year with construction expected to take two years to complete.
