Persimmon unveils three residential schemes in Birmingham

Persimmon City Developments (PCD) has unveiled plans for three residential schemes in central Birmingham.

The residential developer plans 300 apartments in three developments in Great Hampton Street, Grosvenor Street West and Navigation Street. The three schemes will have a combined end value of £60m.

Steve Watt, chairman and managing director of Persimmon, said the company decided to invest in the area because of the city’s increasingly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Planning consent exists for 178 flats in Great Hampton Street, 110 in Navigation Street and 11 in Grosvenor Street West.

Completion of the Great Hampton Street and Grosvenor Street West developments is due for 2002. The Grosvenor Street West scheme will be completed in November 2000.

Watt confirmed that his company is negotiating on other “key sites” in the city.
