Philip Day’s retail empire heads for pre-pack administration

Peacocks, Jaeger, Austin Reed and Jacques Vert have collapsed into administration.

The fashion chains, which were part of Philip Day’s Edinburgh Woollen Mill group, had been vulnerable for the past month while administrators at FRP tried to find a buyer. Together the brands have more than 500 outlets and 5,000 staff.

The most likely outcome is a pre-pack administration, under which the buyer would not have to take on liabilities such as its pension scheme and stores.
