A £150m handout by chancellor George Osborne to find new “world-class museum storage facilities” for the Victoria & Albert museum is set to unlock the sale of a huge residential development opportunity in Kensington, W14.
The V&A’s collections are currently based at Blythe House, a prime site opposite Olympia which has the potential for a major redevelopment.
Final approval to sell the site will be subject to ministerial sign off and securing an appropriate alternative storage site, which could happen as early as next year.
