Celebrations: EG’s 150th birthday was an inevitable topic of conversation at the Focus reception in Bristol – along with the economy and Savills
More than 80 agents, developers and public sector officials braved the wet and windy weather to help EG celebrate its 150th birthday in Bristol.
The inclement weather meant that the balcony at Jack’s Brasserie on Harbourside was underused but, inside, the champagne and cake-fuelled conversation ensured a sunnier mood.
Naturally, the economy dominated conversation. Agents working in the leasing side of the market were keen to maintain a relatively positive outlook, while the degree of hang-dog expressions worn by investment agents was more open to debate.
With property being a people industry, gossip centred on Savills setting up a new commercial division, and how it would fair in tougher market conditions.
But as people slowly drifted away, attention turned to seeing how many slices of cake could be smuggled out for colleagues. It is rumoured that eBay was busy that afternoon.
