Pizza group Domino’s warns on international business

Britain’s biggest pizza delivery operator suffered a fresh setback yesterday when it was forced to backtrack on a previous promise that its international operations would break even this year.

Shares of Domino’s Pizza, already reeling from a dispute with franchisees that has hit store openings in Britain, fell by 3¾p, or 1.4%, to 257p after its admission that its first-quarter performance overseas had been hit by “persistently weak sales”.

David Wild, chief executive, said that “international performance remains disappointing and trading visibility is limited”, adding that new management had been installed in Norway, Sweden and Switzerland to pep up its operations and to cut costs.
