Pizza Hut 400-restaurant UK plans set for liftoff

Pizza Hut has revealed plans for nearly 400 new restaurants throughout the UK by 2010.

The company is aiming to double its store-opening programme, meaning new outlets will increase from 14 to 35 pa. The overall target is 809 new units and expansion plans are expected to create 1,750 jobs each year.

Mark Upton, acquisitions manager of Pizza Hut, said: “We are raising our investment in rebranding, including new store designs and a rolling programme of refurbishment for existing outlets. The test units of residential roadside outlets and in small towns have proved very successful and are integral to the wider leisure experience that is the future of the modern retailing environment.”

James McLean of Donaldsons, representing Pizza Hut, said: “We have now introduced new processes to reduce the amount of time it takes to buy a site by speeding up the legal process and becoming more flexible and competitive.”
