Developer Placefirst has revealed plans to build a £27.5m build-to-rent scheme in Bolton.
The BTR developer is set to lodge a planning application later this year to build around 200 homes, as well as up to 15,000 sq ft of grade-A office space and a range of commercial units.
The new housing will be a mix of family houses, downsizer apartments, and one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Four blocks will be built around pedestrian-priority streets, courtyards and resident gardens, and an outdoor art gallery is being mooted.
The scheme will be built on what is currently Central Street car park in the Croal Valley area, and construction work is expected to start in 2020.
It is part of Bolton Council’s masterplan, which now stands at £1.2bn as a result of private sector investment, to regenerate the town.
Ambitious vision
Placefirst managing director David Smith-Milne said: “Bolton Council has set out an ambitious vision for the town centre, and we are excited to be working with such a forward-thinking local authority.
“We have developed our plans for Central Street with the wider town centre framework in mind and are confident our proposals will reflect that ambition.”
The council is working with investors and developers to redevelop five key areas of the town as part of its masterplan.
These areas are: Croal Valley, Cheadle Square, Church Wharf, Crompton Place and Trinity Quarter.
Schemes include Bolton Regeneration’s submission of plans for the £48m Trinity Gateway scheme, a planning application for a £150m new neighbourhood by Muse Developments and plans lodged by Forshaw Developments for a £35m residential development.
Placefirst is also working on several BTR schemes across the north of England earmarked to start in 2019. This includes 113 homes in Sheffield, 116 in Sunderland and 52 in Liverpool.
