Places for People steps in to bring affordable homes to Bradford

Social enterprise Places for People has teamed up with housebuilder Vistry Group to deliver 90 affordable homes in Bierley, Bradford.

The Woodlands Edge scheme will include a range of two- and three-bedroom homes, offered in affordable rent and shared-ownership tenures.

The development has a gross development value of £17.7m. Vistry secured planning permission for the site in October last year and work is set to start on site this summer.

Andrew Poyner, managing director for West Yorkshire at Vistry, said: “Thanks to the engagement and support of Bradford Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, we’ve been able to work together with Places for People to unlock this site for development.”

Nilam Buchanan, regional managing director for Central and North at Places for People, said: “We have a long-term plan to help address England’s chronic shortage of homes and build sustainable communities, with a focus on delivering affordable homes.”
