GB Railways and Great Western Trains have held separate talks with Motorrail to launch a cars-on-train service.
Motorail and Great Western are looking at ways to jointly promote such a service to the West Country.
Great Western hopes to launch its service in August from London to Penzance. British Rail shut down a Motorail service in 1995.
