Plans by prominent solicitor and developer Noel Smyth to build a 440m2 house in Dalkey, accessed viaan old right of way for walkers, have attracted more than 30 objections from local residents. MrSmyth claimed that just “two or three” people were behind the collection of the objections.

The auditing manager of Deyaar’s financial department uncovered a number of violations when he reviewed the real estate company’s accounts, a court has been told.Mohammed Mustafa Hussein’s evidence was heard at the trial of Saad Abdul Razzak, a former CEO and board member of Dubai Islamic Bank, and businessman Ismael Akeel Janahi. Dubai Public Prosecution has charged Razzak with bribing Janahi but they have denied charges.The case at the Dubai Misdemeanour Court was adjourned until 7 July, when witnesses for the defence will produce evidence in their favour.

Listed pub operator National Leisure & Gaming has jettisoned two poorly performing Queensland leaseholds insales to Australian Leisure & Hospitality Group.The sales are worth a combined $12.5mand involve the Magnums venue at Airlie Beach and the Blue Pacific Hotel on Bribie Island. NLG chief executive Andrew Jolliffe hailed the sales as highlighting a return of investor confidence in the hotel sector.

Istanbul has witnessed so much unplanned urbanisation that the ratio of green spaces to population is well below European standards. Erhan Demirdizen, Istanbul branch president for the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, said the ratio of green spaces should be at least 10m2 per person, while people in most European cities had 20m2. The green space ratio per person in Istanbul is only 6.4m2.
