Manchester City Council has approved plans for Renaker Build’s 1,508-home residential scheme at Owen Street.
The tallest 66-storey tower on the development will be than 200m in height, making it the tallest building in the UK outside of London.
The scheme has been designed by SimpsonHaugh & Partners and comprises four towers rising to 39, 46, 52 and 66 storeys.
Construction is due to start this summer 2016 and will continue for around 54 months.
Renaker Build is currently developing around 1,600 apartments across four sites at Greengate, Cambridge Street, Regent Road and Wilburn Basin in Manchester.
It has also recently secured planning consent for a 44-storey, 349-apartment scheme at Exchange Court, Greengate.
