Planning hitch for 11,754sq m automotive components plant at Blythe Valley near Solihull, West Midlands

Solihull Council has deferred a decision on a detailed planning application for a11,754sq m (126,523sq ft) unit at Blythe Valley Business Park.

This follows the DOE’s issuing of an Article 14. According to Head of Development Control at the council, Richard Cobb, this is intended to give more time to consider the application.

The car component plant is intended to attract the Michigan-based Prince APG which has won a contract to supply doors for Jaguar’s new X200 car. It needs a factory ready in 12 months and is also known to be considering Lichfield Securities’ Fradley Park, Lichfield, Staffordshire.

DTZ Debenham Thorpe is advising Prince. Savills is advising Kingspark and British Land, joint developers of Blythe Valley.

Grimley and Kingstons are letting agents for the 93ha (230 acre) Fradley Park, where planning consent has recently been obtained for another 140ha (346acres). Lichfield Securities is a subsidiary of Evans of Leeds.
