Prologis has secured permission to build a new logistics facility in Minworth, on the outskirts of Birmingham.
The plans include the demolition of an existing facility, originally built for Asda in 2016, which is too bespoke for wider market requirements. Prologis will replace it with a new 163,000 sq ft building, which is expected to be rated BREEAM Excellent and net zero carbon in construction.
The proposed development, called DC6, will expand Prologis Park Midpoint to more than 1.6m sq ft, providing additional amenity space and enhancing landscaping. Construction is expected to start in summer, with completion slated for early 2023.
James Hemstock, director in the capital deployment and leasing team at Prologis UK, said: “The redevelopment plans for DC6 Prologis Park Midpoint will bring a much-needed new lease of life to an under-utilised site and additional space to a starved market.”
