Plans approved for redevelopment of former Kellogg’s site

Planning approval has been given for Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council to redevelop the former Kellogg’s site in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester.

The scheme, to be known as Lumina Village, will turn the 12-acre site into a new neighbourhood with 750 new homes, of which 15% will be affordable, 200,000 sq ft of office space, a 100-bedroom hotel and a new primary school.

Located opposite Old Trafford Cricket Ground, the scheme, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley, forms part of Trafford Council’s wider Civic Quarter masterplan.

Andrea George, regional director of town centres at Bruntwood Works, said: “We are committed to supporting the wider ecosystem of the towns and cities we operate in – Lumina Village will future-proof the area with the highest-standard housing and education facilities surrounded by a thriving commercial offering, catering to the needs of every generation in the community.”

Andrew Western, leader of Trafford Council, added: “This exciting development on the iconic former Kellogg’s site will provide much-needed quality housing, an excellent primary school, offices and a superb hotel. It will totally transform the area and create a fantastic place for people who live and work there. This development fully supports the council’s corporate priorities of creating quality and affordable housing and successful and thriving places.”
