Plans for £250m Stoke-on-Trent retail scheme unveiled

 


Plans for the £250m regeneration of Stoke-on-Trent’s East West Shopping Centre in Hanley were revealed this week.


 


Developer Realis Estates yesterday submitted an outline planning application to transform the existing outdated 1960s precinct into a 650,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme.


 


The development will include shops, cafés and restaurants, a multi-screen cinema, hotel, modern bus facility, public spaces and improved parking.


 


The Benoy-designed scheme is set revitalise the retail scene in Stoke-on-Trent and tempt shoppers back from cities such as Manchester and Nottingham.


 


A public exhibition will take place from 18 October.


 


The redevelopment of the East West Centre forms part of the £1bn regeneration proposals for Stoke-on-Trent over the next 10 years. These wider regeneration plans include building 3,200 new homes.
