Plans for new Victoria hotel refused

4C Hotels was refused planning last night by Westminster Council for a 169-room hotel on Vauxhall Bridge Road, SW1.

Despite being recommended for approval, councillors decided that the proposed development (pictured) was too tall and would adversely impact amenity.

Objections to the planning application were received from the Cathedral Area Residents Group, which said the proposed hotel was out of scale and character for the area and would result in the loss of office accommodation.

Other objections came from the Ashley Gardens Residents Association and 104 signatories of a petition on behalf of residents of Carlisle Place over the loss of daylight and privacy as well as noise and nuisance issues.
