Plans in for 32-storey Isle of Dogs resi

A planning application has been lodged with Tower Hamlets for a 32-storey residential tower on the Isle of Dogs, E14.

It proposes 209 flats with 17,000 sq ft of commercial space across three buildings of 9, 17 and 32 storeys at the site at 3 Turnberry Square, opposite the Crossharbour Docklands Light Railway station.

The developer is 3TQ Ltd, a special purpose vehicle for the development backed by a private investor. Lichfields is planning consultant and Buckley Gray Yeoman architects designed the scheme.

It is the latest high-rise application for the region, as residential developers flock to the formerly industrial land around the Docklands.

The development sits next to the completed Baltimore Wharf which rises to 45 storeys, close to the Asda supermarket site which is pending consent for 2,015 flats in up to 32 storeys, and a number of consented schemes ranging from 23 to 44 storeys.

It is also a short distance from the contentious Westferry Printworks which housing secretary Robert Jenrick approved, despite opposition from Tower Hamlets and the planning inspector.

Jenrick has since reversed his decision under admission of “apparent bias” and the scheme will go to another minister while Jenrick faces questions over his conduct.
