Peel Waters has lodged proposals to redevelop part of Chatham Docks industrial estate in Medway, Kent, into a business and enterprise campus.
Basin3, which has a gross development value of £50m, will provide 333,681 sq ft of flexible workspace. Located adjacent to Medway’s university cluster, it will act as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration.
The plans, designed by Michael Sparks Associates, would see part of the waterfront opened to the public for the first time. A tree-lined promenade will connect the Basin3 campus with new neighbourhoods at Chatham Waters and Colonial Wharf. Green spaces and waterside routes for pedestrians and cyclists will also be created.

Peel Waters has invested more than £125m into its Chatham Waters neighbourhood so far, creating 750 jobs, delivering more than 450 new homes alongside developments such as the Asda Superstore, Waterfront University Technical College, the Mast and Rigging Restaurant and large swathes of public realm and open space.
James Whittaker, executive director at Peel Waters, said: “During our consultation period a key theme which emerged from local residents and the community was the need for employment space, which is why this is the next development we are focusing on delivering for the community here in Medway.
“The site we are promoting is currently brownfield land which presents a fantastic opportunity for sustainable regeneration, investment and development.
“Positioning this high-quality employment space adjacent to the cluster of universities and the Waterfront UTC, amplifies the potential to attract inward investment and encourages businesses to consider Medway as a key location for their growth whilst retaining local talent.”
P4 Planning is advising Peel Waters on planning matters.
