Plans for the first city centre hotel to be built in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, in more than a decade have been submitted by Calmont Group and Kier Property.
The developers hope to build a £6m, 82-bedroom hotel that has been prelet to Travelodge.
The property is scheduled to open by late 2012, subject to consent.
