Plans push ahead for second Dalata Edinburgh site

Plans are moving head for the conversion of a vacant Edinburgh office into a hotel run by listed operator Dalata.

A consultation over MRP (McAleer and Rushe Property)’s plans for Edinburgh One at 60 Morrison Street closed earlier this summer.

City of Edinburgh Council has now said proposals to convert the stripped-back office building into a four-star Clayton hotel can be lodged with the need for an environmental impact assessment.

The property, once the headquarters of the Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, was bought by MRP for £15m from administration earlier this year. It had been bought by Odysseus Capital Management for more than £22m in August 2021.

Dalata is already lined up to operate another Clayton hotel in the city at 28 St Andrew Square, a site it acquired last year.
