Plans refreshed for Manchester’s Hotspur Press makeover

Developer Manner has refreshed its plans for the conversion of Hotspur Press in Manchester city centre into a PBSA tower.

Initial proposals, designed by Hodder + Partners, were lodged in December last year, featuring 578 bedrooms. Manner is now looking to deliver 595 bedrooms.

Slight changes have been also made to the design of the building, including a small reduction in the height and width of the tower.

Elsewhere, the size of the ground-floor commercial space has increased, with Manner now actively looking for independent operators to occupy the space.

The 36-storey scheme will preserve much of the existing brick exterior. In addition, it will create a new public square for the wider community.

Richard James, managing director of Manner, said: “Since we submitted the planning application in December last year, we have been working with the city council and local resident groups to further improve our plans.

“These conversations have helped us to better understand how we can make the best possible contribution to the local neighbourhood and ensure the construction process is carefully managed to minimise local disruption.”
