Plans revealed for redev of former Yorkshire coal yard

Mountpark Logistics has put through detailed proposals to Wakefield Council for the regeneration of the former coal yard site at Ferrybridge Power Station.

This follows the request of an EIA Scoping Opinion for the proposals last year.

The updated plans feature six buildings ranging from 100,000 sq ft to 620,000 sq ft that have been designed to achieve EPC ‘A’ ratings and minimum BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditations. The plans also include roof terraces and landscaped areas.

The proposed scheme, to be known as Mountpark Ferrybridge, sits at the intersection of the M62 and A1(M) motorways, offering access to the national motorway network alongside rail, air, and sea connectivity.

Brett Huxley, development director at Mountpark UK & Ireland, said: “Mountpark Ferrybridge is an opportunity to bring a historic brownfield site back to life by providing much needed industrial/logistics facilities to a distribution location. We aim to develop a campus that will provide inward investment by offering our customers the best possible facilities and creating an environment that will attract and retain employees.”

JLL and Carter Towler are representing Mountpark.
