Network Rail has submitted a planning application for a £400m revamp of King’s Cross station.
Plan for the refurbishment include: –
- a new station concourse, some three times the size of the existing concourse
- a new platform to enable more trains services to use the station
- refurbishment of the impressive twin barrel roof and all platforms
- new information systems and escalators serving the platforms
- a new public piazza to the front of the station
Upon approval of the application, submitted to Camden council, it is expected work will begin 2007 or 2008 with completion planned for 2011.
