Planting the seeds of a planned sale

After a difficult few years and an extensive turnaround programme, Britain’s largest garden retail group is being put up for sale.

Wyevale Garden Centres, which has 145 outlets across the country, could be sold as a whole or split up and sold as individual garden centres, its owners said yesterday.

Terra Firma, a private equity firm, said that the sale represented “a unique investment opportunity” and that it was “expected to be attractive to a wide range of buyers”.
