PLATFORM_ has secured planning approval for 335 build-to-rent apartments in Sheffield’s city centre.
The development is located south of Sylvester Street and north of Mary Street, near the Moor shopping centre and Sheffield’s Retail Quarter.
It will comprise a mix of studios, and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, in blocks ranging from five to 14 storeys.
TateHindle Architects designed the development, which also includes more than 2,500 sq ft of amenity space providing residents’ lounges, a top-floor gym, a bike club and storage and workshop space.
The scheme is expected to be completed by late 2020 or early 2021. PLATFORM_ will manage the development and will offer tenancies of up to three years.
PLATFORM_’s chief executive, Jean-Marc Vandevivere, said: “This is a huge opportunity to raise the bar for city centre living in Sheffield.”
“We at PLATFORM_ are delivering purpose-built rental housing that gives residents a quality home with professional service and additional on-site amenities – all of which are currently lacking in the traditional private rented sector – as well as contributing to the revitalisation of the city centre.”
The BTR developer and operator manages 600 homes in regional hubs and commuter towns in England, including Bedford, Bracknell, Crawley, Exeter and Stevenage. It aims to deliver 5,000 units within the next five years.
Last month, PLATFORM_ announced it had submitted plans for a 500-flat PRS scheme on Glasgow’s waterfront.
