Britain’s most senior civil servant will conduct a review of how the Downing Street flat renovation was funded.
Simon Case, the cabinet secretary, told MPs that he had not been “involved directly” in plans to set up a trust funded by a Tory donor to pay for the works, but had been asked by the prime minister to examine how the renovations had been funded.
He has promised his findings would be released to parliament.
