Prime minister Theresa May is being urged to take a firm stance on measures to address the housing crisis.
Details of how local authorities should assess housing needs are due for publication this month after the original launch date of July was delayed amid concerns they could spark criticism about overdevelopment.
A firm stance on such issues could be one way of improving the Conservative party’s support among young voters. Only 4% of 18-24-year-olds surveyed by YouGov trust the Conservatives on housing, against 44% for Labour.
