PM’s York plan for Parliament rejected

Boris Johnson’s plan to relocate the Houses of Parliament to York have been rejected.

The PM had told the two quangos responsible for overseeing the restoration of the Palace of Westminster that the York proposal should be considered as a “potential location”.

In their reply to the prime minister, Sarah Johnson and David Goldstone, the respective heads of the sponsor body and delivery authority, rejected his proposal.

They said that it would be “inappropriate” for them to consider moving outside London because it had “constitutional implications”.
