Pocket Living gets affordable OK in Croydon

Pocket Living has been gained permission for a 21-storey off-site building in Croydon, south-east London, that will deliver up to 100% affordable housing.

More than 70% of the 153-home Addiscombe Grove development will be at a discount to the market price for first-time buyers, and Pocket Living has also agreed to make the remaining homes available for shared ownership.

The developer secured £25m of City Hall funding last year for 1,059 new homes, a third of which are expected to be built in factories off-site.

Homes within the development will be sold only to residents and workers in the borough.

Marc Vlessing, chief executive of Pocket Living, said: “At Addiscombe Grove we are aiming to use modular construction to deliver homes faster and increase the affordable housing provided from 73% to 100%.

“The recent £25m investment from the mayor will result in more than a thousand affordable homes for Londoners started within the next three years.”
