Barratt’s regional MD for London has been released on bail after being arrested and questioned on suspicion of bribery in a south Wales police station.
Alastair Baird, 52, was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of bribery, at the same time as a 47-year-old woman, understood to be an ex-Barratt employee, was arrested in east London.

Both have now been released on bail pending further investigation, police said this afternoon.
The Metropolitan Police’s complex fraud team, part of its Falcon division, is investigating irregularities in tendering processes around contracts to suppliers which are understood to have come to light after an internal audit by Barratt.
