Housing and planning minister Rachel MacLean has chosen not to sanction 10 local planning authorities.
The authorities are: Calderdale, Cotswold, Epsom & Ewell, Guildford, Hinckley & Bosworth, Peak District, Pendle, Portsmouth, Vale of White Horse and Waverley.
The local authorities had been warned over their poor performance in April, but were deemed to have made significant improvement by June.
If authorities are “designated”, planning applications will be sent directly to the Planning Inspectorate, avoiding the local authority.
