Portexcept adds to Dudley tourism plans

West Midlands-based private developer Portexcept has submitted a planning application for a new leisure and tourism scheme which will form the final phase of Dudley’s visitor attractions.

Plans for the five-acre Mullins Yard site will link the town’s existing zoo and castle to the Black Country Living Museum.

Mullins Yard, which currently houses a former tannery building and derelict land, will be redeveloped as a mixed-use leisure, tourism and retail scheme.

The project will be anchored by a 120-bedroom hotel, alongside 30,000 sq ft of retail space, pubs and restaurants and a showroom/exhibition centre for Royal Brierley Crystal.

Business start-up units will also be provided.

The entrance to the redeveloped Mullins Yard site will be off the main access road to the Castle Hill scheme. The development marks the start of regeneration plans for the Tipton Road area.
